Why need to have ISBlank before can filter ?

Hi All

I like to learn about below syntax :-

Flag GROUP TYPE_G16 ONLY = IF ( ISBLANK('Group TYPE'[GROUP_TYPE]), "0",if('Group TYPE'[GROUP_TYPE] in {"G16"},"1", "0"))

First question is why i cannot simplfy the syntax to below :-

Flag GROUP TYPE_G16 ONLY =
if
(
'Group TYPE'[GROUP_TYPE] in {"G16"},"1", "0"
)

Hope some one can share with me

Paul

@admin11 , it seems like a statement in a calculated column; if so, you might want to try a more simplified one,

( 'Group TYPE'[GROUP_TYPE] = "G16" ) + 0

Thanks to the great efforts by MS engineers to simplify syntax of DAX! Most beginners are SUCCESSFULLY MISLED to think that they could easily master DAX; but it turns out that the intricacy of the most frequently used RANKX() is still way beyond their comprehension!

DAX is simple, but NOT EASY!
