When you should use DirectQuery and import for data storage? Best Practice

So, i heard that if you are using excel or small dataset then just use Import and if you connecting to company's SQL Server (where you don;'t want the visuals to limit to 1GB of data) then use DIrectQuerty.

 

Anything else someone can add to enhance my knowledge on this. Thank you

@Anonymous , Import mode always works better than Direct query mode.

We use direct query mode in case

1. When the Pro License file exceeds the data limit 

2. Data is too large and the Database is performant enough to give quick replies.

 

In direct query, there are certain limitations on the DAX, max rows in a query. Also, you should avoid bi-directional join in direct query
