What is the meaning Rolling 12 ?

Can some one share with me below expression mean what ?

Rolling 12 = CALCULATE([Sales],DATESINPERIOD( 'date'[Date],MAX('date'[Date]),-12,MONTH))

@Paulyeo11 , for each date/month(based on the last date), it will give you sum of the last 12 months of data.

Morning,

It calculates the running total for the last 12 month's sales. So Sum's all the sales for the last 12 months.
