I see from the forum that a query must be a direct query in order to bind a parameter to a slicer.
In my case I'm using a set of Web API queries to retrieve data. There doesn't seem to be an option to declare a web api query as a direct query and therefore the bind option is not showing in the advanced properties.
I have one api query that retrieves a list of ID's. A second API query uses a parameter with a value for an ID field passed into the API to obtain a set of metrics.
I'd like users of my dashboard to populate the parameter in the second API call from a slicer but I am unable to find a way to bind the field of a table of ID's to the API parameter.
Is there another approach to allow the slicer to pass the parameter to a Web API query?
Thank you for the reply to my question. Would you please explain what is meant by switching connection modes and how that may enable dynamic values in my API GET request from the dashboard?
Hi @Anonymous ,
As you describe, Power BI does not natively support setting Web API queries to DirectQuery. DirectQuery is typically used for relational databases and some specific data sources.
It may require you to switch connection modes and try again.
