We were unable to load this Excel file because we couldn't understand its format

Hi!

When I try to update my published PBI dashboard on PBI Services, it always displays this error:

However, when I try to update the same PBI on my desktop, it updates normally, without any issues. This error only occurs in the published version, and the excel files that this dashboard uses are not corrupted.

What can I do to solve this?

Hi @nok ,

I know that probably you have done some checks but try the following:

  • In Power BI Service, please check the dataset settings and make sure that the SharePoint connection is using “Organizational account”.
  • Check if the Excel file has any broken links, hidden sheets, or damaged data.
  • Try removing the connection to this file in Power BI Desktop, connect it again freshly, and then publish the report once more.

I apoligize for probably asking to do some steps that you already have done but is just some debug options.

Regards

Miguel Félix

Hi @MFelix
The Excel files are in xlsx format and are stored in folders in Sharpeoint. I really don't know why only PBI Services gives an error when updating, but on Desktop it updates without any error.

Do you have any password on the file?

Miguel Félix

There is no password in the file. It is showing the data normally.

Try changing its format to xls and saving in some different folder.
