We were unable to find a database provider with invariant name 'MySql.Data.MySqlClient'.

Hello!

I am trying to connect to a mySQL table and I have tried all options from previous questions. I have installed and upgraded to the latest version but unfortunately, it didn't work.

Did anyone encounter the same issue? Unfortunately... will need this for work. Thank you!

I was able to figure it out!!! 😀 mysql workbench and connector needs to be the same version and based on this article, I used 8.0.26. I reopened PBI desktop and was able to refresh my data. 🙂

I connected by Power BI Desktop to a MySQL database hosted on GoDaddy and I then published my report. I can refresh properly on the desktop app but I can't refresh on PBI Service even after making the proper connections. I keep getting this error "Data source error: [ValidateMarkupTags][ccon]DataSource.MissingClientLibrary: [ccon]We were unable to find a database provider with invariant name 'MySql.Data.MySqlClient'.[/ccon]. DataSourceKind = [ccon]MySql[/ccon]"

I have the same issue, were you able to solve it?

Hi,

I seem to be having the same problem, but the solution did not work so far. My report server is running smoothly, and I can also update the data in Power BI on the web. However, the update in the Desktop version fails.

I de-installed my mysql connector and installed the same version as the workbench as suggested (see below) I rebooted but still I cannot refresh my data in the desktop program. What could I do next?

Thank you a lot for your help!

Best

Florian

Hello All, I tried downgrading mySQL connector as shared here - Solved: Mysql connector (8.0.29) and gateway not working. - Microsoft Fabric Community - but same error still. May I ask if the workbench and connector versions should be the same? Thanks!
