I want to show a Book Value roll-forward using a waterfall chart in Power BI but I need to be able to determine the start and end points (BOP and EOP) but also need to determine the steps in between from a different data source. Is there any way to customize the waterfall chart to suit this? It can be done in excel but difficult in PBI.

Hi @dkdirenzo,
Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft fabric community forum. Also, thanks to @Ashish_Mathur, for his inputs on this thread. I reproduced the scenario again, and it worked on my end. I used it as sample data and successfully implemented it.
outcome:
I am also including .pbix file for your better understanding, please have a look into it.
Hope this clears it up. Let us know if you have any doubts regarding this. We will be happy to help.

Hi @dkdirenzo,
Just wanted to follow up. If the shared guidance worked for you, that’s wonderful hopefully it also helps others looking for similar answers. If there’s anything else you'd like to explore or clarify, don’t hesitate to reach out.

Hi,
As long as there are proper relationships between tables, this should be possible. Share some data to work with and show the expected result.
Hi, the data is in the snap shot of the chart. I'm expecting to have BOP (2Q) Balance as the starting point, then drivers in between (acq, sales, FX, etc.) and end with EOP (3Q) Balance. For example:
BOP (start) = 100
acquisitons = 300
sales = -50
maturities = -100
FX = 120
Impairments = 200
EOP (ending balance) = 570
There is really nothing i can do with a snapshot.
