Hi all,
I'm new to the Power BI Desktop and I'm trying to understand how it works with "Northwind" sample database.
The option to click on the visualisation and it filters all diagrams on the dashboard is great, now I'm wondering how can I carry it through to another page of my dashboard.
Is it even possible?
I know that when I add a filter and synchronize it with another page then it's value is the same on both pages. Can I link it to diagram so that when I click on a visualisation it switchess on the filter (that is synchronized)?
Thanks in advance!
Solved! Go to Solution.
If you mean what you want to click on some value on the visuals in the slice, the selected value should change, then this does not work.
Slicers → Visuals:
Slicers can filter other visuals (including charts, tables, etc.)
This is the standard and expected behavior
Visuals → Slicers:
Visuals cannot directly filter or change slicer selections
This is a technical limitation of Power BI's architecture
If you need clicking a chart to affect what shows in filters, try these real solutions:
The Button Trick
Make invisible buttons over your chart sections
Each button can set a slicer when clicked
Works but takes some setup
Use a Fake Slicer
Create a table that looks like a slicer
It can react to chart clicks
Not as pretty but functional
Page Navigation
When user clicks a chart section
Take them to a new page with filters pre-set
Simple but breaks the "one-page" feel

Thank you.
You can copy and paste slicers onto other pages. Then sync the slicers.
Learn how here https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/visuals/power-bi-visualization-slicers?tabs=powerbi-deskt...
You can create a drillthrough page.
For example Page 1 shows totals sales by customer.
You click on a customer and then drillthrough to Page2 which shows all invoices for that customer
