Hi everyone, I hope you all have a nice day.
I want to ask if (Picture in order), I gave an example of me using visualisation of "Button Slicer (Top)" and "Slicer (Bottom)" in the first picture, I have a table where I have Reporting Date column then I make custom column for the quarters and months. The "Year" in the slicer is from Reporting Date hieararchy (Year), but the quarter and month in the slicer, they both are custom column that I made from the Reporting Date column (so they are not the hieararchy of "Reporting Date").
My questions (I don't mind if you answer with "Slicer" visualisation or "Button Slicer" visualisation):
Please kindly help me answer my questions. Thank you in advance. God bless. 😊🙏Picture 1

Hello jollybeaanz,
well a simple solution would be turning off the interaction between slicers, then you can achieve your question 1 2,3 and 5
about question 4 please select option selet on in slicer settings
you can find editting interaction in format tab, for interaction for eachother and turn on force selection
if this helps, please mark as solution

To be clear that my "Button Slicer" visualisation doesnt have "Force Selection" like yours.
Probably because i have preview options on
no worries, single selection might fix your issue

I see that the force selection works when "Single Selection" is turned on. Unfortunately, I don’t want to enable "Single Selection" because I need to display multiple months in my report (such as Q1/Q2 or a 6-month reporting period, for example).
I truly appreciate your answers. However, please let me know if you find any other way to address my question or maybe you have any tips for this.
Thank you so much. 🙂
Hi @jollybeaanz ,
Thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Fabric Community Forum.
Power BI does not currently support forcing a selection in multi-select slicers without enabling "Single Selection."
Since you need multiple months selected, enabling "Single Selection" is not an option.
A common approach is to use DAX measures that detect if no months are selected and then default to a predefined month set (like Q1 or a 6-month period) for your calculations.
You can also add a card visual with a message prompting users to select at least one month if nothing is selected.
Another option is to use bookmarks with default multi-month selections applied on report load to avoid empty slicer selections initially.
Although these methods don’t physically force a selection in the slicer UI, they ensure your visuals show meaningful data and guide users to make selections.

Chaithanya.
Hi @v-kathullac ,
Thank you so much for replying to my question — I truly appreciate it. I will try your ideas and let you know whether it works for me or not.
Thank you once again.
