Viewing maps that don't show data bullets

Hello

In case you have trouble displaying data locations in a map visualization, you must select the location field and some contextual tabs will appear on the ribbon. On the "Column Tools" tab you must select a category from the Data Category drop-down menu.

As soon as I select a category (in my case, "City") the map correctly displays my data:

I hope this helps 🙂.

Hi @Anonymous ,

That's actually right, thanks for your sharing! There are many benefits for doing this:

  1. When we use map to show some locations, set the location category will help us find the location more accurately.
  2. When we ask a question in Q&A about this field, Power BI default visualization would be mapmap.png
  3. In addtion, there is difference between city and state. For example, Ohio city and Ohio state. If we want to show the data about Ohio city instead of Ohio state, it is necessary to set the data category as City to show the data correctly.

Best Regards,
Yingjie Li
