Does anyone know if the new Sharepoint/Onedrive integration will mean we can finally have usable version control for PBIX files?
The press release seems to focus on sharing content, It would be great if we could save directly to Sharepoint and track changes as all the other Office apps do. Would be a huge win in a team environment where multiple developers want to work on a report.

Hi @itchyeyeballs ,
Depending on your needs, you can try the following applications: Power BI Version Control is a fully packaged, free solution that allows users to apply version control, edit and manage PBIX or PBIT files locally. The solution sits entirely within the Power Platform and SharePoint environment.
You can download from here:

If the problem is still not resolved, please provide detailed error information and let me know immediately. Looking forward to your reply.

Hi, Thanks for the link but it looks like the same one I posted in my earlier response, our IT team would not let us install it due to security concerns (they don't like giving free products permissions to core systems).
@itchyeyeballs , If that means having a version for a file. Not the incremental version. Then that we do as of now. We put file on one drive with same name and overwrite and it keeps the previous version as history
We tried that but Onedrive is not reliable for us, the syncing between users was terrible, everyone has a local copy and you rely on the Onedrive client to upload - which it quite often doesn't.
With direct integration to Sharepoint and check-in / check-out like you get in Excel and Word version control would be much easier.
There is a Power App that automates a process using SharePoint but our IT security would not let us install - https://powerbi.tips/2021/02/power-bi-version-control/
