Variables

Hi I am just getting used to using variables and can't figure why this doesn't work. What I have is a Customer list with the date the account was created and what I need to know is whether the customer base is going year on year.

So I have created a variable to filter this table by the created date and whether it was before or on the 31st March 2017.

I thought I could then simply count the rows and return the correct number however it doesn't work.

CUST 2016-17 =
            VAR CustomerCreation = FILTER(CUSTTABLE,CUSTTABLE[CREATEDDATETIME] <= 31/03/2017)

            RETURN

            COUNTROWS(CustomerCreation)

Sorry I have now managed to discover the problem and amended the formula:

CUST 2016-17 =
            VAR CustomerCreation = FILTER(CUSTTABLE,CUSTTABLE[CREATEDDATETIME] <= DATE(2017,03,31))
            RETURN
            COUNTROWS(CustomerCreation)
