Using measures/data in different report.

Hi All,
I am looking for someone who colud show me direction or say simple 'it's impossible' 🙂

What I have:

1. I have source data (hrs, ppl etc - transaction level) for company A, B and C (same contract1) in Workflow1.

2. I have ContractDataModel (CDM1) for company A, B, C with all measures I need.

3. I have source data (hrs, ppl etc - transaction level) for company D,  E and F (same contract2) in Workflow2.

4. I have ContractDataModel (CDM2) for company D, E, F with all measures I need.

5. I have source data (hrs, ppl etc - transaction level) for company G, H and I  (same contract3) in Workflow3.

6. I have ContractDataModel (CDM3) for company G, H, I with all measures I need..

Company A,B,C,D,E and F are in Group1.

Company G,H and I are in Group2.

All company are in same Division.

I am creating Group and Divisional reports.

Can I use company KPIs from existing CDM's in Division or Group report? (don't think so).

Can I have single figures from source data flows like Headcount - 1234 heads, Hours - 12,067 hrs etc instead of list of all names with all clock-in clock-out into system (don't think so)

Can I automatically save data from report into excel/csv file I can use in Divisional report? (don't think so)

Only solution I can see now is

- create Divisional Data Model (DDM),

- link all source data from CDM1, CDM2 and CDM3,

- replicate all measures in DDM

or

- manually save data I need from reports to external file I can use in Divisional reports.

Any ideas?

Regards

Adam Boltryk

Hi All,

I can confirm to all - I built my model on Data Flow - Data Set - Report model, and it works (so far 🙂 ).

However I am aware that Data Flow is still marked as Beta version.

Adam

Hi @AdamBoltryk ,

  1. At least in theory, if the report contain the data of KPIs, you can use it. However, I don’t know what the actual table structure and the relationship is. Maybe you can post some sample data.1.jpg
  2. As you know, we have to load the entire table while getting data. But you can transform the data to keep the rows what you want in Power Query after loading it.
  3. Certainly, we can’t save data from report into the files. I’m afraid you have to save it manually.

Thank you for answer.

Actual tables structure and relations is a bit complicated.

And it's only 1st Group Data model from my example (company A, B and C). So prepare 'sample data' could be a bit difficult 🙂

I know rows/columns delete mechanism. And I am using it if neccersary. thx.

And looks I have to stay with my manual process.

Thank you.
