Using a report started in the online service on a desktop instance

Hello

I started using power BI on the online service (app.powerbi.com)

and have a report/ dataset in my workspace.

I have now downloaded powerbi desktop (pro) and want to sync to that report/ workspace.

Is there any guidance on how to do this?

Thanks in advance

Dominic

I don't think it is called "synchroizing" between Desktop and Service. In simple words, you connect datasources with desktop, and create reports then you publish the aggregated model to power bi service as dataset and report.

Please check the details of power bi work flow: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/fundamentals/desktop-getting-started

Once you download it, there are separate reports that connect to the same datasource with the same query expressions.  You could build a report that connects to the published dataset, or you can update the pbix file and republish it over the original.
