We have an SSAS Tabular cube for the enterprise so IT has control over the data deployed but we want analysts to be able to tie in other data in Power BI Desktop with that cube data. When one starts a PBIX file and chooses Get Data, Analysis Services and connects to the Tabular cube, the Fields show up. However, Get Data now is grayed out to bring other data into the report. We want the security and validation that an enterprise designed and published cube brings but also the flexibility to tie in other data without giving everyone access to change the enterprise cube. Is this possible?

Hi @dhooger ,
Current live connection mode doesn't support to processing multiple datasources.
I'd like to suggest you use import mode to get data from SSAS datasource, then you can add other datasources to live connection mode report.
DirectQuery, Live Connection or Import Data? Tough Decision!

Xiaoxin Sheng

I'm not working with large datasets but Import from an SSAS Tabular cube into PBI Desktop has not once worked for me. I do accept your answer as that is what it is.
