Using Get Data from Folder with multiple files, does merging the files keep only one header?

I have 6 files, each with the same headers. I would like to keep them in the same folder and use the Folder option to Get Data. However I only would like to keep one header. The data is updated daily and the number of rows change. Is this possible?

Hi @nmyre

Yes, you can only keep one header. Please follow the steps in images. There are some points need to note:

  • Select a sample file in the folder when combining files.
  • After combining files, select Transform Sample File in the Queries and make sure that the first row has been used as headers.

Then you can select the combined query to check that no other header rows exist in the table. You can remove the Source.Name column if you don't need it.

@nmyre ,

Check this link: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/transform-model/desktop-combine-binaries

It combines all the files using an example (mostly the first file). So it appends all the tables without duplicate the headers.
