Hi all
I have been working on a project where we moving forward will be using direct queries (to get near realtime reports).
The data is stores in SAP ECC and the SAP BW acts as the middle man where the data relations are stores and the query is created to be used with the SAP connector in Power BI.
The connector works, but when no data is stored in the BW (Virtual Provider), the relations are not being loaded and as Power BI is using direct queries, i of course cannot create the relations.
(when data is stored in the BW, the relations are loaded)
summarised: Have anyone had experience using Direct Query to SAP BW combined with using BW as a Virtual Provider (creating the relations in the BW and having the data in SAP ECC).
Kind regards
Daniel
Hello,
Did you solve this?
We are just starting a project where we need to connect in BW to a Virtual Cube that is connected to a HANA view. We are able to connect, but we only see the key figures as available objects but any of the characteristics is shown.
Any idea of how to proceed?

You may check Limitations and considerations of Composite models in Power BI Desktop.
I am sorry, this unfortunatetly does not help me come closer.
As this is a direct query to BW, the composite models are not available.
Also another limitation i found was that there are no way to do any dax calculations at all (even non-aggregate functions)
the following error appears:
Any help?
