Using CALCULATE and FILTER it by part of Text

Hi,

I'm trying to make a new Measure with the CALCULATE function.

I need it to SUM hours if the activity starts with a "B".

Activities are B1, B2, B3, ....,B1000 and it would be very bothersome to add them one by one

How should I filter it using CALCULATE?

example:

Billable Hours = CALCULATE(

SUM( time[used_hrs]) ;

time[activity]="B...")

You are looking for the LEFT( ) function 🙂

Billable Hours = CALCULATE(
  SUM( time[used_hrs]) ;
  FILTER(time, LEFT(time[activity]; 1) ="B")

)
