Use saved database information on the report without refreshing it
Hi there.
I'm kind of new with PowerBI, and I've got this question. I've copied a report that already contains the information that I need from the database. I have created a new connection to an excel file, and I've been using it to merge it with the tables. Everything is working fine on Power Query Editor. The process seems to be the right one. However, when I want to use the option Close and Apply or Apply, I'm getting an error message.
If I understand, PowerBI requires to be connected to the VPN and refresh the information of the tables that I've joined with the excel. However, I'd like to know if it is possible to apply these changes and use only the data that I have already available from the database without using the option of a refresh.
I only need to create some visualizations for a probe.
Is there a way to do that?
Regards.

Anonymous Click on Transform Data from top ribbon, right click on the table in error and uncheck Include in Report Refresh.

Hi sanimesa thanks for your reply. I've done what you've indicated (in all of the tables of this report). I have unchecked the option "Include in report refresh", but I'm still getting the same message error for the table created with the excel file.

Anonymous I think you made the changes before making the exclude refresh. If your changes are not too extensive you could start over, this time performing the exclude refresh first.
There may be a more elegant solution though.

Anonymous , close and apply will connect to the database to validate the changes

Thanks amitchandak for your reply. In tha case what should I do to avoid the refresh and use the data created with the excel? Does the answer of sanimesa work?
