Updated Themes

Hi All,

Had quite a shock today after opening Power Bi and seeing all the colors of my theme changed automatically.

My guess is there was some update on the tool and someone didn't realize that would change for all users?

Anyone with the same view?

Cheers,

Fernando

Hi, @Anonymous

It looks like the update from the product team may have affected the default theme settings for users who didn't save the theme. It's really inconvenient, especially when you're happy with the previous color.

To avoid encountering similar issues in the future, you may want to consider creating and saving a custom topic, as described in other responses. That way, even if there's an update, your preferred settings won't be affected.

Hi All,

I didn't have a saved theme as the one that was offered was good enough and the colors were great.

I guess The product team changed it and affected all users that didn't have a saved theme.

Cheers,

Fernando

@Anonymous

It’s likely an update inadvertently reset your theme, so reapplying your custom theme should resolve this. 😊

If you previously used a custom theme, ensure you have the .json file. Reapply it via View > Browse for Themes.

In future, keep a copy of your theme JSON file and document your customizations.

Hi @Anonymous - Go to View > Themes in Power BI Desktop, and reapply your custom theme (if you have it saved). You can also upload a custom JSON theme file if you previously created one.Make sure you are using the latest version of Power BI Desktop, as any minor updates released by Microsoft may address known issues.

Keeping your themes in a JSON file format and storing it safely can prevent similar issues in the future, as it will allow you to reapply your custom theme quickly if Power BI updates affect the appearance of your visuals.
