Unable to save report after changing connection from Live to DirectQuery

Hello Everyone,

PBI Version: 2.145.1602.0 64-bit (July 2025)

We run a semantic model that I am unable to modify. On occasion, I find I need to add a calculated column to my report. Previously, I've been able to switch to Direct Query to create the column, and this has worked without issue.

Now, while I'm able to create the column, I cannot save my report to disk.

When testing, I found that I don’t even have to make any changes, I just switch to Direct Query and I lose the ability to save.

To make matters worse, the failure is silent, no error message, nothing greyed out.

The only clue all is not well is that the Last Saved info in the title bar does not update.

Does anyone know if this is a bug or something?

Could you try: Disabling the TMDL view preview feature
