Unable to get all rows of data in a matrix and unable to apply background color for rows in a matrix

If the table visual contains the following columns: Client, Area, Country, Status, Project Manager, Head Cound, Start date, Live date, and End date. And if we try to filter it using Client and Country. The data comes in two rows.

We only receive one row of data if we transform that table's visual to a matrix. Since the client, area, country, status, start date, live date, and end date are all the same.

Matrix rows: Client, Area, Country, and Status
Matrix Values: Head Count, Start date, Live date, End date, and Project Manager

It displays two rows if the project manager is kept in the matrix rows. However, the same problem exists if project manager also contains duplicate values. Please refer to the image 1. But expected output is 3rd table which is shown in image 1.

Another issue is the status column of rows in a matrix. Unable to apply conditional formatting to rows in a matrix or apply background color, please see the attached image 1, and the third table is the desired result.

Currently, status column is taken in rows but I don't find anything to apply conditional formatting or background color.

If that status is moved to values of a matrix, then we can apply conditional formatting.

Please assist me if anyone have any suggestions or ideas for how to resolve this.

Thanks & Regards,
Sirisha.

Hi, a couple of questions, if in the end your matrix shall look like your table, why cant you use the table visualisation? You could color your Status there easily. There is no way to color the matrix rows by default, this is a feature much desired by all.

Matrices work this way, they aggregate, tables show you values row by row.

What is your purpose trying to use a matrix?

Hi @olgad, thanks for responding.

In order to freeze a few columns in a table visual, which is not possible, I am transforming the table visual into a matrix visual.

Therefore, I'm attempting to accomplish the same thing in Matrix where I can freeze the Client, Country, Status, and other columns. As a result, it meets the criteria. This is why I can't use conditional formatting in a matrix. I can perform it at a table.
