Unable to data model and create relationships

I am new to Power BI, I am trying to make relationships within my dataset. My dataset contains 5 tables. I want to know to create a working dashboard, all of my slicers and key measures should be following a star schema data modelling and should be from the fact table or the dashboard will work if I take slicers from Dimension tables too. (Following Star Schema Data Modelling). Please include resources to understand more about data modelling and managing relationships. Thanks
