Unable to add new Oracle data source in Power BI pro, Oracle version already met min requirement.

I have successfully connected to Oracle database in PowerBI desktop and created a report.

When I publish onto PowerBI Pro, I have to add the Oracle datasource via an on-premise gateway. But I keep getting the below error.

Oracle Connection Error Message.PNG

The oracle version which I used to connect in PowerBI desktop is OraClient11g, which is already higher than what is required, and I use service name instead of host name in the server field. I wonder what else could be wrong. Anyone can help please?

Hi @Anonymous ,

Based on your error message, I found it notice your oracle instance not registered valid:

We could not register this data source for all gateway instances within this cluster

Then I noticed your client version is not suitable:
The provider being used is deprecated: 'System.Data.OracleClient requires Oracle client software version 8.1.7 or greater.'

Please double check on this part, install a valid Oracle client software version(not the Oracle version)and try again.

Hi,

Both my Oracle Client and Database version are above 8.1.7. See screenshot below:

Just to re-iterate, I have no issue connecting it via PowerBI Desktop. It is when I publish it to PowerBI pro, I have problem adding the data source to my gateway.

Hi,

Can I get some help on this? I have replied that the above solution does not work for me. But no response since then. If someone can help I'd be really appreciative!
