I have created a new report using the DataSet's of 3 reports which is already published in Servise. I just connected this these 3 datasets by direct query method directly from Service. due to this method i was unable to create new roles in PBI Desktop aswell unable to modify the existing roles. If i publish the report the error showing as " you have to create rls in Desktop" but In Desktop there is no option for creating the RLS. Can anyone suggest me a solution to create RLS.
In Service;
But In Desktop the Creating Roles option is not enabled;
Solved! Go to Solution.
The current connection to your dataset Amazon Redshift is Direct Query.
It is either you change to import so you will be able to configure RLS or open a ticket to the support team 🙂
I have the same issue. Is there any solution ?
What is your data source ?
Mam, I just taken the 3 Dataset's of 3 reports allready published in Power BI Service, and i combined those 3 datasets into single one and created a new Report. So for this new report the DataSource should be PBI Service ( cloud ), right ?
Here the issue is i think, the 3 datasets i taken is through direct query mode from the already published reports, so the Manage Roles option is not enabled for me. ( Please refer the screenshots ive shared )
What to do now ?
And the datasets available on PBI Service are coming from where ?
Mam, The DataSource for the 3 dataset's is Amazon Redshift.
Mam whether creating Dynamic RLS option would solve this issue ???
