USERELATIONSHIP() not working with id columns

Hello,

I am working with a referal program for a product, it's a pretty simple set of relationships where I have an ID for the referrer and an ID for the referred and they are related to a table with summary revenue data by 1 person ID column. I have the relationships set up, but when I create a measure like this:

Average Referred Spend =
CALCULATE(AVERAGE(money[USD]), USERELATIONSHIP(referrals[Referred ID], money[id])))

The result is the same exact average that I would get if I had just averaged the sum on it's own. When I try to inspect the rows, the calculation is aggregating at the highest level of abstraction, so I end up just with a repeated number for each row.

I have changed the order of the relationship id's back and forth, I know I have it in the right order for a many to 1 relationship and it still won't work. This is literally how every walkthrough has said to use this formula and it isn't working one bit.

Any ideas?

Can you post a screenshot of your data model? And a little more on what you're trying to achieve.. An average of referred spend?

Hi Syk, I cannot post screenshots. We are working with proprietary data, and I don't think it is necessary to post screenshots for this simple example. We have one table with two ids, we have another table with one id and sums, there are two relationships, one for the referred and one for the referral.

I'm trying to calculate averages for reffered and for refferals sepperately to put in card visuals among a few others.
