Hi,
I am a Power BI free user that recently got upgraded to Power BI PRO user for trial period since June 1 2017. I am currently facing a data refresh issue whereby initially I received an e-mail with an error message: <fileName.xlsx> OneDrive refresh disabled and the refresh time is not reflected under the "Last Refresh Succeeded" dialog box.
Subsequently, I click on "schedule refresh" > OneDrive Credentials > Edit credentials.
A pop-up box appears, prompting me for "Authentication method" but there is nothing for me to select. I click on "Sign in" anyway.
Thereafter, when I click refresh, the refresh time is reflected under the "Last Refresh Succeeded" dialog box. However, my data is still not updated.
I wouldly appreciate it if someone could help me asap. Thank you!
Hi @palaver87,
Could you please check if the “OneDrive Refresh” option is turned on in Datasets settings?
Are you using Personal OneDrive or OneDrive for business? Please make sure Power BI can sign into data sources. If a password you use to sign into a data source changes, or Power BI gets signed out from a data source, be sure to try signing into your data sources again in Data Source Credentials. If you’re making changes to the Power BI Desktop file on OneDrive and saving, and those changes aren’t being reflected in Power BI within an hour or so, it could be because Power BI cannot connect to your OneDrive. Try connecting to the file on OneDrive again. Reference: Refresh a dataset stored on OneDrive or SharePoint Online
By the way, is this the first time to refesh data source stored on OneDrive? Did it ever refesh successfully? Did you make any changes to the OneDrive file, like delete and recreate, or change its path, etc?
Best regards,
Yuliana Gu
Hi Yuliana,
I have a dataset which is a .pbix stored on OneDrive, and many other .pbix reports connected to this dataset.
I have found that changes made to the OneDrive .pbix are not reflected in the online dataset. This may have been caused by the use of dev & prod models, as we simply overwrote our prod model with a renamed dev model. Even though the file path and file name is the same, would this have broken the link for the Power BI service to refresh from OneDrive? If so, what is the recommended solution?
If it were possible to change the dataset that a .pbix report file is live connected to, I would pull the dataset in under a new name and simply point all the reports to the new dataset, then republish, but I don't believe that is possible.
Please help as I can't imagine having to rebuild all of our connected reports from scratch.
Thanks & Regards,
Mike
