Trying to create the field parameter at the visual studio Tabular model working at power BI

Hi,

I'm trying to mimic the field parameter same as the below link :

https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/create-reports/power-bi-field-parameters

at the Tabular created at Visual Studio using Microsoft Analysis Services Project, Azure Analytic Services or any other recommended extention.

As the  New parameter is grayed out at the modeling tab of the Power BI when using model How can I create the visualisation using the fiels parameter?

Thank you for your contribution.

  • Currently you can't use field parameters as the linked fields of a drill-through or tooltip page. The workaround is to use the individual fields referenced within the field parameter instead. For example, if your field parameter includes "Customer" and "Product" fields, you can link these two fields to your drill-through or tooltip page so that visuals with the field parameter can launch your drill-through or tooltip page.

''''' Do you have any demo for better understaning ??

Due to Direct Query limitation I can't use it and it has to be based on the tabular model.

I found some tips and tricks that creates some work around this issue and if anyone familiar with the tabular models please check this link that is based on Tabular editor.

Does anyone know how to do the same at the visual stuadio using Azure Analysis Services?

Hi @Anonymous ,

Please check the limitation of this preview feature.

Limitations

  • AI visuals and Q&A aren't supported with the feature.
  • There's no way for your report users to select "none" or no fields option. Selecting no fields in the slicer or filter card is the same as selecting all fields.
  • Currently you can't create parameters in live connection data sources, without a local model. However, using DirectQuery for Power BI datasets and AS (preview), you can add a local model to create field parameters. Read more about DirectQuery for Power BI datasets and AS (preview).
  • You can't use implicit measures for now, so if you need an aggregated column as one of your fields, you need to create an explicit DAX measure for it. Read more about implicit vs. explicit measures.
  • Currently you can't use field parameters as the linked fields of a drill-through or tooltip page. The workaround is to use the individual fields referenced within the field parameter instead. Hi @Anonymous ,

there are any possibility to resolve this problem?

In Tabular Editor I can do this, but not in Visual Studio Tabular model.

If I modify the Model.bim in Tabular Editor with a step dor create a the Field parameters, I can't open and deploy the Model.bim in Visual Studio.

There is the chance to solve this early?
