Transform a Date field to Month Name and Month Number

Hi,

I have imported data from the powerbi service into powerbi desktop so I can try and model the data. Unfortunately it only gives me access to the reports level not the data source. I am trying to create a month name and month number field with a new measure but I have no idea how to do it. 

I have 'BankStatementDailyBalance' [Date] field but that is not being picked up when I type it in my new measure formula.

Any suggestions?

When creating a measure, you need to apply a aggregate function when using a table field.

I tried this but it didnt work either - Month Number = month(DATE)
