Hello ! I have a problem !
I want to use an Excel file to create KPIs on Power BI. The problem is that I need that everyone can update it by keeping the automatic updates of the Power BI. So, I need to put it on sharepoint. I used different methods to try to get it, but that doesn't work...
My doc is on a folder called "codep" which is in a folder called "document". The problem is that I can get "document" but I can't get the things inside
2- https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/connect-data/desktop-use-onedrive-business-links
At the end on the method, I have a message saying that i'm not allowed to access it..
3- I also tried flow, but I doesn't work.. I never understand which link I have to put where, so I have probably done an error myself
Thanks for advance for your help !
Hi, @Anonymous
I'd like to suggest you use sharepoint folder connector. If you tried connecting to simply the root of SharePoint site, this only allowed access to the Shared Documents folder on the root and therefore didn’t work.
You may connect directly to the root of a particular site with the URL like below.
The SharePoint folder option will traverse subfolders, like the default from folder option. Therefore, if you are looking for a particular directory then you can simply apply a filter in the Power Query Editor on the Folder Path property.
Best Regards
Allan

Hello @v-alq-msft
I looked for solutions about "Sharepoint folder connector" because I have not understood your solution. Do you speak about this : https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/combining-excel-files-hosted-on-a-sharepoint-folder/ ?
If yes, I tried this but it doesn't work. To go to my file, i have to go to different folders : Auvergne > Documents > CODEP > My file !
The problem is that if I put the link of Auvergne, I don't see my file because it isn't directly in this folder
If I put the the link of Documents or CODEP, there is an error message.
Transfer this data automaticly is important for me, but I'm still blocked...
Thanks for advance
Hello,
I'm still looking for a solution. Does someone has an idea please?
Thanks for advance !
@Anonymous , refer if these can help
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1YmyN8OFDp0
https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/refresh-your-power-bi-dataset-using-microsoft-flow/
For the 2nd option, you shared once you publish you need to go and schedule the refresh in power bi service. Also, you might have to provide access to a shared point file.
I have done, it with one drive and provided users access to that file. But I was also using a power app to update, so users need access.
Thanks for your help !
The solution presented on the Youtube video is a solution I have already tried. It doesn't worked because I can access to the things in the Sharepoint, like a folder called "documents". The problem is that my Excel document is on a folder called "CODEP" which is in the folder called "Documents". So, I can't access to this like that. I have tried another time today, but nothing changed, same problem.
About the Flows, I have tried again by using your video and the second link, but it doesn't work. When they do it, it seems so easy.. Power BI give them choices, and on those choices, there is the needed choice. It is totally different for me...
And for the 2nd option, I don't understand.. I have access to the document. What should I do more?
But.. on all your solutions, the person had a "sharepoint list" and not a document which is in a folder... Do I have to create a sharepoint list? And if yes, is it posible to do it automaticly with my excel document on sharepoint and how?
Thanks for advance !
