Hi All,

I have done a  calculation that gives me the difference between current year and previous year, but I wanted to display the difference as a tooltip, is this possible.

so if a user hovered over 2018/19, it would show the total amount and the difference between 2018/19 - 2017/18 as x, if they hovered over 2006/07 then it would show the difference between 2006/07 - 2005/06 etc...

You can create a report tooltip page, add Card visual to this page, and drag the calculation that gives me the difference between current year and previous year to the Card visual. For more detail, you can refer to the document:https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/desktop-tooltips.
