Hi all,
I have use the "Timeline" visual for almost two years and until couple months ago I noticed the display on Web is different from Desktop view. On Web view, the visuall will display both "Year" and "Quarters" which it not visable in PowerBI Desktop.
My current workaround is edit the report on Web, then disable "Display Year" and and "Display Quarters" which is not available as option in Power BI Desktop.
If anyone has suffered the same issue and already found a solution, please let me know.
Many thanks.

Hi @HKE_Chung ,
Thanks for reaching out.
Does your question only occur in the Timeline visual? Do other visuals have the same problem?

Hi Stephen,
The problem only applies to Timeline visual, however please note that it is the only "non-stock' visual that I am using.
Many thanks.

Can you share the exact visual name

Hi Saud,
It is called Timeline, however the versioning is different on Web and on Desktop app.
I have tried updating the visual on Desktop app to latest version but it's still stuck at version 2.4.

Hi @HKE_Chung ,
I didn't find the visual called 'Timeline', but I found a visual called 'Timeline Slicer' with version 2.5.11.0. I think it's the visual same as yours.
And I tested, it's same between desktop and service.
If the visual is not the one you mentioned, please correct it.
In addition, have you tried updating your Power BI Desktop to the latest version? Most common issues can be solved by this operation.

Stephen Tao

Hi Stephen,
Thanks for helping me out, yes it is the same visual as mine.
May I ask you to check if the hover on the Timeline slicer you installed on your Power BI Desktop and see if it shows Timeline 2.4.0 or Timeline 2.5.11?
Because mine is showing 2.4.0
Also the Labels section of the visual on Web is different from my Power BI Desktop.
Can you please take a look at yours and see if it is same as mine?

Many thanks.

Hi @HKE_Chung ,
Thanks for your quick reply.
In Desktop view, the version display is also "2.4.0".
Then my label interface is the same as yours, as shown below.

To solve yours, I think you could try republishing the report and see if it works.

Hi Stephen,
Really thank you for checking.
I have tried various ways including republished the report but the problem still exists..
Is there any channel I can contact the Microsoft team who is develping this visual and let them aware of this issue apart from posting in this forum?
Many thanks.
Harry Chung
Hi @HKE_Chung ,
I recommend that you create a support ticket to report this to Microsoft. A dedicated engineer will help check this at backend and verify whether this is by design or an issue. They may have a solution to this.

Hi Stephen,
Happy new year! I have created a support ticket and waiting for Microsoft's reply.
Many thanks.

Did you get a response from your ticket? I am having the same issue only getting 2.4.0 in desktop
@tuday Apparently the update is rolled out by region and by Web service/ Desktop. So if you are same region as me (S.E. Asia), the update for Desktop should be deployed around mid Febraury and it should resolve the issue. But if you are in different region, the timeline would be different. MS support told me that for US users, both Web service and Desktop are still at version 2.4.
I'll update again when the desktop version is updated to 2.5.
@tuday I noticed today that Timeline on Web service has been reverted to version 2.4, is it the same for you?
Hi tuday,
I have just shared the info the MS support today and expect to hear from them within this week.
Once I hear from them I'll update here for your information.
Many thanks.

Is this a custom visual?
