Time Function Issues

Not understanding what I am doing wrong and how to fix it. Please advise.

Thanks in advance Jamie

Previous YTD Sales =
CALCULATE(Sum(SalesDashboard[Sales_Amount_Actual]),PREVIOUSYEAR('date'[Date]))

circular dependency was detected: SalesDashboard[Previous YTD Sales], SalesDashboard[Current YTD Sales], SalesDashboard[Previous YTD Sales].

@jnaugle - Very difficult to say with the information provided. Perhaps try SAMEPERIODLASTYEAR. See if my Time Intelligence the Hard Way provides a different way of accomplishing what you are going for.
