The sort by field doesn't work when accessing the dashboard from a filtered URL

Hi All,

I created a field pane and sorted the content with certain fields.

It works well on the PBI dashboard.

However, when I access the dashboard from a filtered report URL, the sort by field doesn’t work.

I even tried some hacky tricks, like changing the name of the column which I’d like to use to sort with to start with A or 1. But none of them work.

Have anyone experienced same issue? How did you solve it?

Thank you.

Hi @AllisonKennedy and @v-zhangti

Thanks for replying this. I need to revise my question here:

The sort feature doesn't work in the online PBI but works well on the desktop PBI.

Please see the screenshot below, I sorted the fieild with the column "recommendation rank" and it works well on the desktop PBI.

However, when I published the pbi file online, the field is not sorted by "recommendation rank", the column I used to sort by in the workbook. It is sorted by expected behavior ID instead." And I am unable to see "recommendation rank" as a option in the "sort axis" neither.

I have tried different browsers, changed the column names, and used the "sort by column" feature (desktop PBI).

None of them works. Does anyone have the clue to solve this? Thank you

@connieh  Which visual are you using? Is it supported with the blue tick? If it doesn't have a blue tick, the support it gets in PowerBI.com is null, but if it does have a blue tick this looks like a bug to report to the developers of the visual and/or Microsoft.

Hi, @connieh

Can you provide a simple PBIX file for testing? Sensitive information can be removed in advance. What kind of expected results do you expect? You can also show it with pictures.

@connieh  What about it isn't working? What filter have you applied and how is that filter related to the field you're using to sort in the visual?
