Text Responses Visualization

Hello Community,

I have a dataset which is essentially responses on a survey! For every row there are responses in terms of True/False (Checklists on Form) and each column is a question asked.

  • I want to be able to visualize these responses with a dropdown list of all questions and proabably a pie chart reflecting how many True/False answered for that specific qn.

What would be the best way?

Having a table with all the columns (questions) and their responses in rows( T/F) is all i have for a visual as of now.

P.S. The filters (attributes) i plan to use are by tying the unique key with another table we have.

Hi @Sam_Jain

Download example PBIX file

Without your actual data I'll have to make up my own so starting with this

survey.png

Then Unpivot, Group and Sort the data to get this

Which can be visualized like this.  Use the slicer if you only want to see the data for 1 question at a time.

Don't use a pie chart.  It's hard to gauge value easily with pies.

Hi @Sam_Jain

Can you please supply some sample data otherwise I'l have to try creating my own and there's no guarantee I'll get it looking exactly like yours.

Hello Phil,

Thank you so much for the response and appreciate you sending over a test scenario.

Let me try to be a little more clear on the dataset i have and what i am trying to achieve.

I misspoke when i said survey, this is more of a review on a monthly basis with a checklist of about 100 odd questions on a form. True/False are the responses.

  • Unique Identifier Key - This i plan to use to tie to another file whicha has more attributes / dimensions for slicing and dicing
  • 100 odd questions - For example - Do you have an account with us - True / False
  • Date when it was submitted (important because it has to be done within a deadine)

Now what i want to be able to look at is - If i select the Unique ID - (tied with attributes such as name, location, etc) for a specific period say the month of March

Then i want to see what were all the responses from the ID - ideally a filter where i can select the question and it would show me whether it was answered T/F

Additionally i can also group it by say location and it would show me all the responses for that specific qn.

Please let me know if this makes any sense!

I tried to unpivot but was unsuccesful in doing so maybe because i need the data with a granularity of per id per month per row.

Thanks.

Again, appreciate all your help.
