Is there a way to allow a user to keep a row in a table/matrix selected even after changing the value of a slicer? I have a time-based slicer that filters a time-series plot, and a table that allows the selection of a specific entity. I'd like to be able to select my entity, and then modify the date slicer without losing my table selection.
The reason I can't use another slicer for the entity is that I need to display a number of additional fields of data for the entity to provide better context, a simple list will not suffice.
Alternatively, if there were another way to zoom the scale of the time-series plot, while keeping the table row selection other than the date slicer, that would also solve the problem.
Hi @pyee78,
Is there a way to allow a user to keep a row in a table/matrix selected even after changing the value of a slicer? I have a time-based slicer that filters a time-series plot, and a table that allows the selection of a specific entity. I'd like to be able to select my entity, and then modify the date slicer without losing my table selection.
What is your desired result? Could you please illustrate your scenario with some sample data? Once we change the slicer selection, all related visuals will show relative data corresponding to slicer value. So, please provide screenshots to show what is "modify the date slicer without losing my table selection"
Best regards,
Yuliana Gu
Ok, here's my report:
default report
one table record selected
table selection disappears when slicer is changed
Ideally, that 2nd row that was selected would still be selected even after I change the date slicer, but it removes the "table filter" when I do anything else to the report. Clicking one of the lines in the chart also resets the table to have all rows active.
Hope that clarifies things. Thanks,
Peter
Hi @pyee78,
I know your requirement this time. But unfortunately, it is not possible to keep the table selection while changing the slicer item. Clicking slicer will reset the table to have all rows active, this is a default behavior. You could submit this idea here, thanks for your feedback.
Regards,
Yuliana Gu
Have you tried defining the Interactions of your slicer to not filter the table?
Yes, seems like it's a UI thing where when anything else gains focus, the table selection is lost. Even if the slicer doensn't filter the table, when it refreshes the other visuals, the table selection goes away. Same when clicking on the line chart... the table selection initially filters the line chart, but if I highlight a line on it, it redraws the chart with aggregated data from the whole table.
