How to limit data updates in the "import mode" to the refresh times only?

And you could also go to Options-->Global-->Data load, then clear cache.
That doesn't make a ton of sense. Did another user run refresh? Are you sure you do not have a composite model and the piece in question is live? You are referring to a report in the Service, correct?
I imported one table from SQL Server database about a week ago. I grouped the data I needed in the Power Query. And I do see the message "This preview may be up to 8 days old" in the Power Querry Editor. But it displays the data from today. Once I close & apply query changes it shows the Last Refresh 20 minutes ago.
