Table Size Changing per computer or user

Hi there, I'm having an issue with the tables display size changing for each user.

I am the creator of the PBI report, and when I view it on my laptop the sizing is perfect:

However, a couple users have reported that it displays just fine at home on their desktop but when they are on their laptop the tables are clipped on the bottom and sides to where they have to scroll within the table to view its entire data:

Any suggestions?  I've tried adjusting the browser font size, the display font size, etc... with no luck.  I'm sure someone has come across this issue before, it seems like a simple resolution type of mismatch.  I don't want to have to increase the static size of the tables to be larger than necessary when I can view them perfectly on my own laptop?  Something is amiss.

Thank you for your time!

Hi mclawler,

We sincerely appreciate your inquiry made through the Microsoft Fabric Community Forum.

Based on my understanding, the issue arises due to Windows display scaling (DPI settings) and differences in screen resolution. Power BI visuals, especially tables, are not rendered with pixel perfect accuracy and may appear differently when users apply scaling settings (such as 150%) or use different monitors.

Kindly refer to the following recommendations to ensure consistent report display:

  1. We recommend that users view reports at 100% scaling for optimal alignment.
  2. Leave adequate padding around tables. Avoid edge-to-edge visuals, and maintain buffer space to accommodate zooming and scaling variations.
  3. Utilize drillthrough views instead of scrollbars for large table visuals.
  4. Set the Canvas Size to 1366x768 or 1280x720 (16:9 aspect ratio). These resolutions are suitable for most laptops and monitors.

Well, Power BI doesn't render the visuals pixel perfect - the resolution of the screen and other dispaly settings are a factor. I have a report with custom icons that display fine in one my monitors but is rather different in my other monitor - same device.

I literally just received this response from a report user:

"So this is interesting. I disconnect my laptop from the monitor and checked the report. It looked just fine, but I noticed my computer settings were set to text showing as small as possible. I adjusted it to 150% (which is where it normally is) and the report is back to scrunching the totals/tables. This tells me its the personal user's settings that are causing the issue.  When at 100%, the report looks perfect, but if I make it 150% those issues come back."

I now wonder if there's a way to make reports more compatible with a wider audience.  Some sort of general guideline on sizing that would accomodate most user display settings....

Hi, my recommendations are,

1. Disable the 'auto-size' in Table/ Matrix table

MasonMA_1-1752174386646.png

2. Select 'Fit to Page' under 'Page view' before you publish the report.

You can try these two tips and let us know if there's any improvement.

Thank you for you suggestions, but both of those options already are as such.  Auto-Size is OFF and Fit to Page is selected.  Still no luck.

It's really puzzling to me because the tables look perfect on my screen, but vary for other users on other screens.

Auto

Then I guess someone else may have better suggestions.

"Page view" was one important setting I misused in my early reports (they were set to "Actual Size") and I got feedback from users that the tables looked not perfectly fitting on their bigger monitors.
