String Search Functionality for Power BI Slicer

Hi All,

I have a requirement where the end user wants to have a search functionality in slicer.

So, basically if they type "mountain" under "Model" Slicer then all the rows having that string should appear in the table :

As of now we can't do this using inbuilt slicer.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi @AnkitaaMishra

Thanks very much for Gabry 's timely reply.

You seem to want to filter the table by entering keywords in the slicer. Correct me if I'm wrong.

This approach may violate the way slicers are used in power bi.

The search feature is designed to help filter the values in the slicer. You can filter the values that contain keywords through search and implement the filter table by selecting that value.

You may need to explain this to your customers.

Nono Chen

Hello @AnkitaaMishra ,

sure this is achivable with the inbuilt slicer, you just need to click on the 3 dots of the visual and flag search. If you flag "Search" you will be able then to type to search values in the filter

If this help please don't forget to accept the solution and kudos 😉

hi @Gabry , thanks for your reply.

I have already enable the search option, but using that I am unable to select all the values where the string is coming. This isn't working for me.

Oh sorry, you're right, I didn't understand. You can't achive that with the slicer visualization. You could use the filter pane on the right, the standard panel provided by microsoft to filter. On that pane you could select -> Contains "mountain"

Hi @Gabry , the user wants it in slicer as we cannot enable the filter section for them.
