Stop slicers updating a table visual until button is clicked but retain the integration with slicers

I'm using field parameters to allow user to select fields to go into a table. To reduce queries I want these selections to only affect the table once a button is clicked. I've used an "Apply all Slicers" button which does what I want but has the knowck on effect that the multiple slicers I have on the page no longer interact with each other.

Does anyone have a what I can stop the slicers being applied to the table until triggered while maintaining the interaction between the slicers.

Hi @Hannahllmm

At present, Power BI does not allow slicer filters to be applied using a button while still keeping slicer to slicer interactions active. When you use an Apply all slicers button, all slicer logic including cross-filtering between slicers is postponed until the button is clicked. This is expected but may not suit all report designs.

As  @MFelix  pointed out, using hierarchical slicers can be a workaround if your slicers are related by dimension, as this consolidates them into one visual and manages their interactions more effectively.

If you need more granular control over slicer application, consider submitting or supporting this feature request on the Power BI Ideas Portal, as it could benefit many scenarios focused on performance.

Hi, thank you for your responce. I just added this:More granular control when adding in a "Apply all ... - Microsoft Fabric Community

I did find that having the slicers on a different page and using page navigation helped to get around the issue

Hi @Hannahllmm,

Thank you for the update!
Glad to hear that using page navigation helped as a workaround. Placing slicers on a different page is a smart way to avoid the bookmark/slicer sync issues.

Also, thank you for adding the idea to the Microsoft Fabric Community -- more granular control with “Apply all” would definitely improve usability. Let’s hope it gains traction!

This currently isn't possible. If you add an Apply all slicers button, slicers will not cross-filter other slicers until that  button is clicked.

Hi @Hannahllmm ,

There is no option that will force the slicers to interact while at the same time you do apply slicers.

I assume that your slicers are dependent on each other so i woudl create and hierarchy slicer that way they would be in a single slicer and you can make your selections.

Regards

Miguel Félix
