Hi, I'm trying to create this bar chart and their variance placed in between the bars as shown below.
Is it possible. Any help on this will be appreciated
Hi @Emmy66,
Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft fabric community forum. I reproduced the scenario again, and it worked on my end. I used it as sample data and successfully implemented it.
Just sharing an alternative approach here. Since Power BI does not natively support placing variance labels directly between stacked bars as shown in your expected screenshot, I tried a Waterfall chart method to represent the same insights.
This chart explains how the value starts at PY and then changes through each step until the final total. The green bars show where the value increases, and the red bar shows where it decreases. It helps us visually understand which step caused improvement and which caused decline in the overall flow.

I am also including .pbix file for your better understanding, please have a look into it.
Hope this clears it up. Let us know if you have any doubts regarding this. We will be happy to help.
Thank you for using the Microsoft Fabric Community Forum.
@amitchandak , thanks a lot for your response. I couldn't open the PBIX file you attached. I encountered an error message
@amitchandak I've tried your proposed solution but it didn't work. When I changed the variance to percentage it altered the entire chart. Thanks. I will keep searching for possible solution.
@amitchandak - thanks for uploading the updated version. I will play around with it and let you know if it worked. Thank you once again for the prompt response.
These are neither bar charts nor are they stacked. Did you maybe want to go for a waterfall chart?
