According to my understanding you want to sort a Power BI matrix by the release date of an item, but you don't want to explicitly display the release date in the matrix.

Solution would be using a Calculated Column and Sorting

    • In your data model, create a calculated column that assigns a unique identifier to each item based on its release date. This identifier should be unique even if multiple items have the same release date.

      Create a Calculated Column:

    ReleaseDateRank = RANKX(ALL(YourTable[ReleaseDate]), YourTable[ReleaseDate])

    Replace YourTable[ReleaseDate] with the actual name of your release date column.

  1. Sort the Matrix:

    • In your matrix visual, drag the calculated column ReleaseDateRank to the rows or columns (depending on your desired layout).
    • Sort the matrix by this calculated column in ascending or descending order.
