Sort data in Matrix

Hi everyone,

I have tried looking through the past posts but could not find what I am after.

I have got a dataset and using a matrix visual you have:

  • Client Code and Client name on a row level - Stepped layout is turned off
  • Month then Period followed by date at the column level

Using the slicer visualisation, I have got a couple of filters where we can filter down to a specific industry, trade level or portfolios. Date Range is also available using the slicer. Moreover, using conditional formatting, we can see if a client has or hasnt made a booking at any given day.

I would like to be able to filter / sort data at different level:

1) using the date range, select a specific day but see all the client list. At the moment, it will filter to a specific day but remove the clients which don't have any data entry for that day

2) I want to be able to sort by color and date. So for a specific day, have all the red cell at the top for example.

I hope someone can assit

Thank you in advance for your help.

Hi, @corange

It is unavailable to sort by multiple columns with a matrix visual in Power BI Desktop currently. I'd like to suggest you vote the idea and add comments there to improve Power BI for making the feature coming sooner. As a workaround, you may refer the link . Hope it helps.

Best Regards

Allan

All of the sorting options are currently accessed via the ellipses in the visual when it is selected in the Desktop. They are fairly limited for the Matrix although I believe they just updated the Table visual so that you can sort by multiple columns so hopefully that feature is coming to the Matrix visual as well.
