Sort and filter by measure not displayed on table/chart

Hi,

I have created a measure based on RANKX which I want to use to sort and filter the entries in a table and a chart. So far this works when I have my ranking measure included in the visuals but is there a way to acheive this without displaying the ranking measure?

Thanks

Place the Rank Measure in the Visual Level Filter of the Visual and filter there!

Alternatively you can use the built in TOPN functionality also in the Visual Level Filter.

Aha - lightbulb moment. I didn't realise that you could put things in there that weren't used in the visual. Very useful.

That solves the filter problem. However, is there a similar way of sorting by a measure that is not displayed?

If you are not displaying the Ranks are you displaying anything else in that Visual such as the Measure used to Rank

You should be able to sort that Measure.

In this case I am - it's a CRM report showing contacts by country so I am showing the number of contacts ion each country and have sorted by that. I was thinking more generally - just in case this ever came up again. It's not a big deal. The tip about filtering by measures that are not displayed was the big one.

Hi All,

I actually have this requirement of sort by measure not displayed in the chart/table. For example, In the graph i want to display a calculated measure (premium) by states but sort the chart by YOY growth which is a calculated field. YOY growth should not be displayed in the chart.  Is there any way to to this?

Thanks in advance.
