Good Day,
I want to create a table or matrix and have a list of tables as the source. I want to use a slicer (table slicer) that will allow me to select which table I want to select columns from to create my tables or matrix, which connects to another slicer (column slicer) which is the list of columns found within the table I selected from the table slicer.
Is this possible?
Thanks

Hi @Rambo_1
Unfortunately, currently Power BI does not support this feature. Slicers in Power BI are a type of on canvas visual filters. The slicers enable a user to sort and filter a packed report and view only the information they want.
You can learn more about slicers from the link below .

Hi,
I believe there are two ways to achive this and both require that you have a relationhsip between both the tables.
1. Easiest way but not recommended - Convert the relationship betweeen the tables into bi-directional relationship from the data model and then when you choose value in one slicer then it will automatically update values in other.
2. Recommended option -
Create a measure say if the tables have Sales then sum of sales -
Filter Variable = Calculate (Sum('Sales'[Sales Amount]))
Now this measure can be used for changing the selections. Put this measure in the filer pane in "Filter on this visual section" for the first slicer.
Now chooose filter greater than 0. Like this-
And now if you change value in table 1 then the value in table 2 will change.
Could you please mark it as a solution if I answered your question.
Thanks
Radhika

Hi @Rambo_1
I don't quite understand what you mean by column slicer. Can you provide a sample to explain the relationship between these two types of slicers and tables and columns ?

Hi Ailsa,
For the first slicer (list of source tables) I want to be able to select which table to use. Once I have selected my table then second slicer populates with the list of columns in the table I selected and then I want to be able to select which columns to use to create a matrix or table.
| Slicer 1 - Tables | Slicer 2 - Columns | |
| Table 1 | Column1 | |
| Column2 | ||
| Column3 | ||
| Column4 | ||
| Column5 | ||
| Table A | ColumnA | |
| ColumnB | ||
| ColumnC | ||
| ColumnD | ||
| ColumnE |
Many Thanks
Any solutions on this?
