Slicer to work with calculated column in not linked table

Hello, I am a new BI user, so please pardon me if my terminology might not be fully correct.

I have one table as follow:

TABLE1

NameDate Cardio ExerciseDate Strength Training
John2/13/20172/13/2017
Mike3/12/20171/3/2017
Amy1/2/20173/10/2017
Mary2/10/20171/4/2017
John3/6/20172/5/2017
Mike1/4/20171/5/2017
Amy2/8/20171/8/2017
Mary3/1/20172/3/2017
John2/14/20173/1/2017
Mike1/2/20172/15/2017
Amy1/15/20173/4/2017
Mary1/7/20171/3/2017
John2/1/20172/12/2017
Mike2/5/20171/15/2017
Amy1/14/20171/8/2017
Mary1/13/20172/2/2017
John3/5/20171/2/2017
Mike3/13/20173/8/2017
Amy3/6/20172/8/2017
Mary2/8/20171/4/2017

And i have created a "Dat"e table populates the count the number of occurence of each month

"DATE"

Date (year Month)Count Cardio ExerciseCount Strength Training
Jan-1779
Feb-1777
Mar-1764

I have created a slicer using the "Name" field of the first table, but that didn't seem to work.   Any ideas?

All advices are appreciated!

In the Date Table, I have added a calculated column as follow:

cardio Count =    calculate(COUNTROWS('BI Test Data'), filter(  'Table1',  'Tabe1'[Date Cardio Exercise]=EARLIER('Date'[Date]) ))

But when I created a slicer using the "Name" field, that didn't seem to change the "cardio count" from the Date table.   Please help!!  I have been stuck with this problem for days... 😞

Hi @xray_drifter,

Calculate column not affected by slicer, you need to use measure to instead.

Calculated Column/Table Change Dynamically According to Slicer Selection in the Report.

Hi @xray_drifter,

You're going to want to use a measure, not a calculated column. Give that try.
