Single Date Slicer for Multiple Tables

Hello everyone. New Power BI user here.

I have a Dashboard with multiple pages that presents KPIs for different activities. In some of the pages, I present data that can come from up to 3 different tables, each one with their own dates because [reasons]. I've been reading up on the creation and use of a Date Table, but I'm not sure which of all the alternatives would apply to my case.

Below is a screenshot of my model as is. I have reduced the dialog boxes just to show the dates I use for filtering from each table and hide sensitive information/calculations.

If you could explain step by step what I need to do to set up the correct date table format, I'd greatly appreciate it. Additionally, this is data that gets updated almost on a daily basis, so any solution would need to be dynamic as well.

Thanks for reading.

Hi @Anonymous

I have initially understood your confusion, if your problem is not solved yet, in order to better help you, I need to know what kind of effect you would like to achieve using date table, if possible, could you share sample data or PBIX files? Please remove any sensitive data in advance. If uploading a PBIX file, please do not log into your account.

Best Regards,
Yulia Xu

Hi! In this case you would have your one date table and connect it to one date field in each of your fact tables. Here is a link to an article I wrote about my favorite date table: http://powerbiwithme.com/2023/08/01/the-custom-date-table-edition/

Sorry. Did you mean to check out the Marco Russo article you reference in your own article?

As in, this one: https://www.sqlbi.com/articles/reference-date-table-in-dax-and-power-bi/

Yes, in my article I am just going through why a date table is so important and why I love the table from SQLBI. That is the date table I use all of the time.

Got it.

Thanks for your help, but I'd really like a tutorial explaining what I'll be doing, how I'll be doing it, and why. I already understood the importance of having a date table.
