Show an amount in European format

Hello all,

I had in my PBIX American regional seetings so the format that i am showing the amounts is this one 12,000.55 so comma for thousands seperator and dot for decimals.

I want to show it in European format so 12.000,55 dot for thousands seperator and comma for decimals. I tried a lot of ways like this

FORMAT(BALANCE_DEF_CURR, "#0.000") but nothing worked.

I changed the regional seetings to Greek but again the same.

Does anybody know how to do it ?

@pbi1908

To change the number format in Power BI Desktop from American format (comma for thousands separator and dot for decimals) to European format (dot for thousands separator and comma for decimals), you can follow these steps:

  1. Select the field or column that contains the amounts you want to format.
  2. In the Fields pane, click on the Modeling tab.
  3. In the Properties group, click on the Format dropdown list.
  4. Select the desired format for your amounts. For example, you can choose Currency, then select the appropriate currency symbol and decimal places.
  5. Click outside the dropdown list to apply the format.

By following these steps, you can change the number format to European style in Power BI Desktop.

If you find this insightful, please provide a Kudo and accept this as a solution.

Dear @devesh_gupta  thanks for your answer but i do not want to show it as currency. I just want to show the amount (pure number) in this Format ##.###,##. Either i change it for the modeling tab or from dax code it doesn't change.

@pbi1908 Then, you can follow these steps:

  1. Select the field or column that contains the amounts you want to format.
  2. In the Fields pane, click on the Modeling tab.
  3. In the Properties group, click on the Format dropdown list.
  4. Select Decimal Number from the list.
  5. In the Decimal places dropdown list, select the desired number of decimal places.
  6. In the Thousands separator dropdown list, select Dot.
  7. In the Decimal separator dropdown list, select Comma.
  8. Click outside the dropdown list to apply the format.

By following these steps, you can change the number format to European style without currency symbols in Power BI Desktop.

If you find this insightful, please provide a Kudo and accept this as a solution.

@devesh_gupta  Where is the Decimal and Thousand seperator dropdown ? Do i miss something ?

@pbi1908 Oh, I appologize for the confusion.

Okay then, can you try like this, if it works:

  1. In the Properties group, click on the Format dropdown list.
  2. Select Custom from the list.
  3. In the Format string textbox, enter #,##0.00.

If somehow this try works, then do let me know.

Actually i want the opposite  #,##0.00.  i.e this one #.##0,00 but this doesn't work.

Hi, Did you get any solution to this one?
