Hello Experts,
I am using SAP HANA View in Power BI IDirect usage) which has variable or Input Parameters . There is need to show the value of variables entered in Power BI report . How this can be done?
E.G There are Variable
| Company Code | 1234 |
| Year From | 2019 |
| Year To | 2020 |
So, need to show these values in the report Header.
Thanks in advance
Hi @Anonymous ,
Do you want to show Variables or Parameters on report page for end users to choose from which then filters the loaded dataset into Power BI desktop? If so, I'm afraid it is not possible.
However, you can try Query Parameter which can dynamically load dataset based on user's selection. But, the parameters are now shown on report page, also, report recipients whom you share reports with on Power BI Service cannot change the parameter.
Best regards,
Yuliana Gu
Hi ,
I have mapped the Parameters to Mquery but still, data is not loading into the power after selecting the values in the parameters. Can you please help me with this request.
Thanks & Regards,
Mohammad Rahiman
Hi Yuliana,
Thnks for the reply thsi was helpful. However, not sure if this would compeletly solve or fullful the need. I have source as HANA Model used via Direct query mode which has some Input Variables to restrict data in the report. Is there a way that these Input Variable from HANA Model can be mapped to Query parameters and later these Query paramaters can be displayed in report?
Thanks!
Hi @Anonymous ,
As mentioned in this document,
Any variables defined in the underlying SAP HANA view will be displayed at the time of connecting, and the necessary values can be entered. Those values can subsequently be changed by selecting Edit Queries from the ribbon, and then Manage Parameters from the drop down menu displayed.
To displayed these parameters on report page, I'm afraid it is not supported now.
Regards,
Yuliana Gu
