Sharing Power Query

Once I  Publish Power BI Report, can I give users access to Power Query Editor, so users can do data clean-up for some of the column cells?

Hi @bdehning ,

You can't give users access to Power Query Editor after publishing the report to Power BI Service.

Please check if Power BI template apps suits your need.

Best Regards,

Jay

Hi @bdehning ,

You can re-use a query using a dataflow and build additional transformation on top of it. But for queries made in Power BI Desktop, the users will have to download the pbix and do additional transformation using the same. Any changes to the copy stays in the copy unless re-published.

Now, why would you want the users to edit the quries? Do they have the know-how to do it? As the report author, why not add those additional transformation yourself before publising the report?

Users will be using a filter to bring in data for accounts they have that that use the same Inital Query Columns as my published report.  There can be data in columns where they would need to replace values.  Example, 3 addresses that are technically the same 123 N St., 123 North St. or 123 North Street. and when counted show as 1 each until replaced with the same address for all 3 and omne address for a count of 3.

HI @bdehning

You need to share thw PBIX file (Power BI Desktop) or create a Dataflow and share that with other users.

When you publish the report on Power BI service, then they can not use Power Query.
